Amy Jane Agnew maintains an active practice focused on constitutional, civil, and disability rights matters as well as matters within education law.  Ms. Agnew has extensive experience in Section 1983, ADA, IDEA, and Title IX litigation in both federal and state venues.  She has been appointed to serve as class counsel on several occasions for certified classes in federal civil rights actions.  Ms. Agnew is an active member of the Federal Bar Council's Pro Bono Advisory Panel in which role she guides pro bono litigation teams in their prosecution of civil rights matters before federal district courts.  She also enjoys the privilege of co-counseling with international law firms on impact civil rights litigation.

Ms. Agnew continues to educate herself on the law as it develops and as it relates to her clients. For five years, Ms. Agnew served as the Graduate Fellow in Constitutional Law and Legal History at Rutgers School of Law - Newark, where she guided law students through complex constitutional litigation.   She still conducts legal history research and academic writing, as she believes the law is both a science and a social art that must be studied as it has been and as it develops.  Ms. Agnew has published on legal history issues and most recently co-authored a chapter entitled, Obstacles to Litigating and Evaluating Trauma in Police Misconduct Cases in Assessing Trauma in Forensic Contexts published by Springer Publishing in 2020.

Ms. Agnew is a U.S. Gold Medalist in Ice Dancing, though now that she's old(er) her remaining athletic ability is channeled into improving a pretty dismal tennis game.  Ms. Agnew has four children and lives in Far Hills, New Jersey and NYC.  In her free time, Ms. Agnew prides herself on conducting a masterclass in mortifying young adult children and obsessing about her gardens - because roses and peonies don't talk back.
